Each yoga posture move is named after animals or plants that it imitates; hence you will have the tree asana, the frog asana, the cat asana, the eagle asana and do so on. It is not necessary for everyone to learn each and every yoga posture they are taught. You actually should concentrate in practicing that asana that suits your health condition best. Regular practice could reduce or even eliminate the cause of your health distress.
Once you learn your favorite yoga posture (or postures) then you can practice at home as well. There are many yoga DVDs and training videos which will guide you when you practice alone. However, it is always good to practice first under the professional guidance of a guru (yoga teacher) so as to be sure you are practicing correctly. Once you are comfortable with the yoga posture that is recommended for you, you can continue to practice the asanas that you love in the comfort of your own home.
