Likhita Yoga
Literally, Likhita means to write, and in Yoga/Meditation practice, it is writing Mantras or Bijams. Normally, the student practice Mauna or silence and concentrates inwardly on the meaning of the Mantra while writing the Mantra itself. Hence, an excellent form of this particular Sadhana is the AUM writing. The AUM is written in a particular form in Sanskrit but you need not circle it or make into a “sunburst” unless you wish to meditate upon the brilliance of the “Sound of All Sounds”.
Likhita Japa Practice
Over the years, Likhita Japa practice is considered as an especially wonderful technique for those who have something to do with their body. Usually, people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD) will find great benefit from this practice, since it involves the senses into the present moment without any great deal of effort and discipline at all.
Mantra and Likhita Yoga
Basically, a Mantra is the causal power of words; it is a syllable, a word or a sequence of words with a high spiritual vibration. Likely, there are three types of Mantras. PRAYER, GURU Mantra (in which represents the essence of prayer) and BĪJA Mantra (in which is assigned to each Chakra).
Nevertheless, all elements and energies in this world can be guided and ruled by Mantras. However, practicing Mantra is never an easy task.
Normally, there are five stages included in the practice of Mantra that you need to undergo through:
- LIKHITA – through writing
- VAIKHARĪ – through speaking
- UPĀMSHU – through whispering
- MĀNASA – through thinking
- AJAPĀ – through uninterrupted inner repetition
Why Likhita Yoga?

Nevertheless, besides bringing about purity of heart and concentration of mind, Likhita Yoga will give you control of Asana, control of Indriyas, specifically the sight and the tongue. It will also fill you with the power of endurance and enables you to attain more peace of mind quickly.
Consequently, by prolonged and constant practice, the inherent power of the Mantra or Mantra-Sakti will be aroused, in which will fill your very existence with the Divinity of the Mantra.
